Trojans stop Blue Knights, 96-86

MASON CITY - The NIACC men's basketball team used a balanced scoring attack to top DCTC 96-86 in a non-conference contest Wednesday night in the NIACC gym.
NIACC (13-11 overall) had five players score in double figures to claim the 10-point victory. Kam'ron Solomon led the Trojans with 22 points and Bryson Robinson scored 21 points.
Also in double figures for the Trojans were Jacob Martin with 19 points, Lance Helming scored 13 points and Joseph Fitch scored 12 points.
Martin was one rebound away from a triple/double as he led the Trojans with a career-best 11 assists and nine rebounds, which matched his career high.
The last triple/double for the NIACC men's basketball team was recorded by Quentin Hardrict (30 points/10 rebounds/10 assists) against the Simpson College Junior Varsity on Jan. 23, 2020.
Solomon was 7 of 11 from the field, including a 6 of 8 performance from 3-point range. Solomon also had five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Robinson had four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Helming collected eight rebounds with three assists and Fitch grabbed seven rebounds.
NIACC returns to action Saturday at home against Iowa Western. Game time in the NIACC gym is slated for 3 p.m.
