Trojans' Spotts earns ICCAC player of week honor
MASON CITY - NIACC sophomore guard Reggi Spotts was selected as the ICCAC player of the week for the week of Feb. 23-March 1.
In the NJCAA Region 11-B tournament opener against Iowa Western on Feb. 28, Spotts matched her career-high with 30 points and added four assists, four rebounds and one blocked shot. The Trojans moved to the regional title game with a 74-59 win over the Reivers.
In the Trojans' regular season finale against Iowa Central on Feb. 25, Spotts recorded her second double/double of the season and ninth of her career with 11 points and 11 rebounds. She also had two assists and two steals.
It is the fifth time this season that Spotts has earned the league's player of the week honor and sixth time in her career.
NIACC, which claimed the regional title with a 69-55 win over Northeast CC on March 2, will play in the NJCAA Division II national tournament in Hickory, N.C. March 16-21. Pairings for the national tournament will be released on March 10.
