No. 15 Trojans nip Marshalltown CC, 60-59

MARSHALLTOWN - NIACC's Reagan Niebuhr took only one shot in Wednesday's game against Marshalltown CC.
But it was a big shot.
Niebuhr's layup with eight seconds remaining gave the No. 15 Trojans a 60-59 come-from-behind victory in their final game of the 2025 calendar year.
NIACC (11-2 overall, 5-2 in the ICCAC) was outscored 16-8 by the Tigers in the first quarter and trailed 29-21 at the half. The Trojans trimmed the deficit to 43-37 after three quarters and outscored the Tigers 23-16 in the final 10 minutes to claim the 1-point victory.
Sophomore guard Reggi Spotts led the Trojans with 26 points, including four three-point goals. Spotts also had six rebounds, two assists, two steals and one blocked shot.
It was the fourth time this season that Spotts has scored at least 20 points in a game. Spotts' season and career high was 29 points against Lake Region State College on Nov. 8.
Also for NIACC on Wednesday, freshman Zaria Falls scored 10 points with six rebounds, three blocked shots, two assists and two steals.
NIACC freshman Allie Zittel came off the bench to score a career-high nine points, including three three-point goals.
Freshman Ciara Seifert led the Trojans with 11 rebounds. It was the seventh time this season that Seifert has reached double figures in rebounds, including a career-high of 20 against Marshalltown CC on Nov. 22.
Seifert averages 10.8 rebounds per game, which ranks second in the ICCAC.
Marshalltown CC (3-11, 0-7) was led Jaeda Turner, who scored a game-high 34 points, including five three-point goals.
NIACC returns to action Jan. 3 at Central CC-Columbus in an ICCAC contest. Game time in Columbus, Neb. is slated for 1 p.m.
