Spotts powers No. 12 Trojans, 57-50
MASON CITY - Sophomore guard Reggi Spotts scored 19 points with five assists, four rebounds and three steals to lift the No. 12 NIACC women's basketball team to a 57-50 victory over Ellsworth Wednesday night in the NIACC gym.
NIACC (10-1 overall, 4-1 in the ICCAC) led 26-21 at the half and outscored the Panthers by two in the second half to claim the seven-point league win.
NIACC freshman Ciara Seifert recorded a double/double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. She also had two blocked shots, one assist and one steal.
It was the fourth double/double of the season for Seifert. She also recorded double/doubles with points and rebounds against Williston State College, the Mount Mercy Junior Varsity and Marshalltown CC.
NIACC's Ella Stoskopf scored nine points and collected 12 rebounds, both career highs. NIACC's Peyton Meincke, who scored five points, grabbed eight rebounds.
Ellsworth was led by Claudia Sanz Dorange with 14 points, six rebounds and five assists. The Panthers' Asia Beale scored 12 points.
NIACC returns to action Saturday at home against No. 25 Iowa Lakes. Game time in the NIACC gym is slated for 1 p.m.
