No. 12 Trojans roll, 94-23
CRESTON - The No. 12 NIACC women's basketball team cruised to a 94-23 victory over Southwestern CC on Saturday in an ICCAC contest.
NIACC (24-3 overall, 18-3 in the ICCAC) led 32-5 after the first quarter and led 55-6 at the half. The Trojans outscored the Spartans 24-2 in the third quarter and led 79-8 heading into the final 10 minutes.
Freshman Peyton Meincke led the Trojans with a double/double by scoring a game-high 15 points and grabbing a game-high 10 rebounds. It was Meincke's first career double/double.
Also for the Trojans, freshman Ciara Seifert scored 15 points and collected nine rebounds. Seifert now has 303 rebounds this season, which is the most since Karen Mehrkens had 332 rebounds in the 1996-97 season.
NIACC's Machaela Trask scored a career-high 12 points. Sophomore Reggi Spotts and freshman Zaria Falls both scored 10 points for the Trojans.
Spotts has 929 career points, which ranks sixth on the school's career scoring list.
Spotts also had five rebounds, five assists and two steals against the Spartans. Falls grabbed six rebounds with two assists and one steal.
NIACC's Tillotti Fair had six rebounds and Taylor Hemann had a career-best four steals and three assists.
NIACC wraps up its regular season at home Wednesday against Iowa Central on sophomore night. Game time in the NIACC gym is slated for 5:30 p.m.
NIACC will host a first-round NJCAA Region 11 tournament game on Saturday, Feb. 28.
