NIACC men cruise past Marshalltown CC, 95-72
MASON CITY - The NIACC men's basketball team stopped Marshalltown CC 95-72 in an ICCAC contest Saturday afternoon in the NIACC gym.
McKelary Robertson scored 31 points and Bradley Andrews scored 21 points to lead the Trojans to the 23-point victory.
Robertson connected on seven 3-point goals, which is tied for the most in a single game in school history. The seven 3-pointers by Robertson was the most in a game since James Harris connected on eight 3-point goals against Iowa Central on Jan. 22, 2020.
Robertson now has 64 career 3-point goals, which ranks 35th on the school's all-time 3-point list.
NIACC (4-13 overall, 4-13 in ICCAC) was 16 of 30 from three-point range against the Tigers. The 16 3-pointers was the most in a game for the Trojans since they made 16 against Little Priest Tribal College on Feb. 13, 2019.
Andrews connected on five 3-point goals. The Trojans also received two 3-point goals from Blake Graham and one each from Tysen Brennan and Jeffrey Skogen.
NIACC led 43-38 at the half and outscored the Tigers 52-34 in the second half.
Robertson dished out a career-high nine assists and grabbed four rebounds.
The Trojans also received nine points from Devon'dre Mayfield, eight points from Jordan Jones and seven points each from Tysen Brennen and Noah Rigatuso.
The 95 points by the Trojans was a season high. The most points by the Trojans this season before Saturday came in an 86-83 loss to Iowa Lakes on Feb. 25.
NIACC dished out a season-high 25 assists as a team against Marshalltown CC. The 25 assists was the most in a game for the Trojans since they collected 22 assists in NJCAA Region XI tournament game against Southwestern on March 3, 2020.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday at Iowa Lakes.
