NIACC men fall to No, 8 Kirkwood,, 70-61
CEDAR RAPIDS - The NIACC men's basketball team dropped a 70-61 decision to No. 8 Kirkwood Wednesday night in an ICCAC contest.
Kirkwood (2-1 overall, 2-1 in ICCAC) led 29-28 at the half and outscored the Trojans 41-33 in the second 20 minutes to claim the nine-point league victory.
Kirkwood was led by Blessin Kimble with 15 points and six rebounds. Also in double figures for the Eagles was Caleb Delzell, who scored 14 points with seven rebounds.
NIACC (0-3, 0-3) was led by sophomore point guard McKelary Robertson with 15 points. Next in line for the Trojans was Marshaun Carroll with 12 points and six rebounds.
Also for the Trojans, Tysen Brennan scored seven points with five rebounds, Cameron Vaughn scored seven points and Noah Rigatuso scored five points and grabbed six rebounds.
A big difference in Wednesday's contest was at the free-throw line. Kirkwood was 25 of 33 from the line and NIACC was 14 of 29 from the charity stripe.
NIACC returns to action Saturday at Indian Hills. Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
