NIACC men edge Northeast CC, 70-67
NORFOLK, Neb. - The NIACC men's basketball team pushed its winning streak to two games with a 70-67 victory over Northeast CC Saturday afternoon in an ICCAC contest.
NIACC, which topped Ellsworth 61-58 on Wednesday, received a steal and layup from Jordan Jones that gave the Trojans a 68-67 lead with 52 seconds remaining in the contest.
Northeast CC had two possessions to take the lead but missed a pair of free throws and missed a 15-foot jump shot in the final seconds.
NIACC's McKelary Robertson connected on two free throws with 2.8 seconds left to push the lead to three points and the league road victory.
NIACC (3-12 overall, 3-12 in the ICCAC) was led by Robertson with a career-high 32 points and five rebounds. It was the fourth straight game for Robertson with at least 24 points.
NIACC, which has won four straight games against Northeast CC, also received a career-high 11 points and five rebounds from freshman Jeffrey Skogen.
Jaden Horton and Bradley Andrews led the Trojans with six rebounds apiece. Jones scored nine points with two rebounds and one steal.
Northeast CC (3-12, 3-12) was led by Michael Anderson with 17 points.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday at home against Kirkwood. Game time in the NIACC gym is slated for 7 p.m.
