NIACC men stop Ellsworth, 61-58
MASON CITY - The NIACC men's basketball team edged Ellsworth 61-58 Wednesday night in an ICCAC contest in the NIACC gym.
Jaden Horton gave NIACC a 60-58 lead with a basket with 22 seconds remaining in the contest and McKelary Robertson added a late free throw in the final seconds to lift the Trojans to the victory.
Robertson led the Trojans, who trailed by as many as 13 points in the first half, with 24 points. It was the third straight game that Robertson has scored at least 20 points.
Robertson scored 30 points against Iowa Lakes on Feb. 27 and 26 points against Southwestern on Feb. 27.
Also for the Trojans, Marshaun Carroll and Noah Rigatuso both scored seven points.
It was NIACC's fifth straight win over Ellsworth, which is the longest win streak against the Panthers in the series.
NIACC (2-12 overall, 2-12 in the ICCAC) returns to action Saturday at Northeast CC in an ICCAC contest. Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
