Frayne's career best round leads Trojans
WATERLOO - The NIACC women's golf team placed fifth at the Waterloo Intercollegiate Friday with a team score of 346.
Simpson College was the team champion with a team score of 330 at the Gates Park Golf Course. Briar Cliff was second with a 331.
"There were difficult scoring conditions (Friday)," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said, "as the winds really came up on the last nine holes.
"I thought the team played OK overall."
Sophomore Kenedee Frayne ed the Trojans with a career-best round of 82, which tied for sixth in the individual medalist competition. Frayne's previous career best round was 86 at the NJCAA Division II national tournament in Boone on May 16, 2025.
"Kenedee Frayne put together one of best rounds of the season," Frenz said. "She's really been working hard at her game and it's nice to see it pay off."
Also for the Trojans Friday, sophomore Meghan DeLong shot 84, freshman Avery Knutsen shot 88, sophomore Addy Boell shot 92 and Emma Topp shot 97.
Playing as individuals for the Trojans, sophomore Danielle Randick shot 95 and sophomore Ashlyn Berven shot 99.
NIACc returns to action Thursday at the NIACC Spring Invitational.
"We have one more week to get prepared for regionals," Frenz said. "We'll be ready."
