NIACC men place 4th at regionals
COUNCIL BLUFFS - NIACC's Javon Kille placed third in the triple jump Sunday at the NJCAA Region 11 Outdoor Track and Field Championships on the Iowa Western campus.
Kille earned his third-place finish with a leap of 13.85 meters (45 feet, 5 1/4 inches).
NIACC placed fourth in the team standings with 78.5 points. Host Iowa Western was the men's team champion with 264 points.
In the 5,000-meter run, the Trojans' Gavin Grunhovd was fourth in a time of 15:41.95.
In the 110-meter hurdles, NIACC's Sha-Vion Jackson was fourth in a time of 15.08 seconds and Gabe Hemsworth was sixth in 16.25.
In the high jump, NIACC's Xavier Codling was fourth with a leap of 1.87 meters (6-1 1/2).
In the hammer throw, NIACC's Colin Rasch was fifth with a toss of 44.57 meters (146-2) and Hansen was eighth with a toss of 38.07 meters (124-11).
Also for the Trojans in the triple jump, Kahuan Harris placed sixth with a leap of 13.68 meters (44-10 3/4).
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, NIACC's Xander Graeser was sixth in a time of 10:45.25.
In the shot put, Hansen was eighth with a toss of 14.21 meters (46-7 1/2).
In the 400-meter hurdles, Hemsworth was eighth in a time of 58.44.
On Saturday, Codling was third in the long jump with a leap of 7.31 meters (23-11 3/4). Harris was fourth with a jump of 7.28 meters (23-10 3/4) and Aldaine Angus was fifth with a leap of 7.04 meters (23-1 1/4).
NIACC's Kasin Brye was fourth in the javelin with a toss of 38.96 meters (127-10) and Rasch was eighth with a toss of 34.73 meters.
