NIACC men fall to DMACC, 73-71

MASON CITY - The NIACC men's basketball team dropped a 73-71 decision to DMACC Monday night in an ICCAC contest in the NIACC gym.

Michael Hartford connected on a 3-point goal with 20 seconds remaining to give the Bears their 73-71 advantage. NIACC's Bradley Andrews missed a 3-point attempt from the top of the key in the finals seconds as the Trojans came up two points short.

NIACC briefly held a 71-70 lead with 45 seconds left in the contest when Noah Rigatuso putback a Myles Tucker miss, but Hartford gave the Bears the lead back for good with his 3-point goal 25 seconds later.

NIACC trailed by as many as 18 points in the second half but battled back against the 11th-ranked Bears, who lead the ICCAC with a record of 10-2.

Tucker led NIACC with 25 points, including five 3-point goals. Tucker also collected six rebounds with two assists, one blocked shot and one steal.

NIACC's Jeffrey Skogen scored 11 points with nine rebounds and five steals. Jordan Jones scored nine points with four assists and four rebounds.

Also for the Trojans (19-9, 7-7), Jacques Kelly scored eight points with seven rebounds. Rigatuso scored nine points with three rebounds.

DMACC (19-6 overall) was led by Goanar Billlew with 14 points and six rebounds. Jadan Graves scored 13 points with five rebounds for the Bears and Hartford and allen Udemadu both scored 12 points.

NIACC returns to action Wednesday in an ICCAC contest at Ellsworth. Game time in Iowa Falls is slated for 7:30 p.m.
