SIOUX CITY - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday at the Siouxland Invitational.
Northeast Oklahoma A&M topped NIACC 3-0 winning by the scores of 25-15, 25-23, 25-14. Iowa Lakes stopped the Trojans 3-2 (20-25, 25-20, 25-21, 18-25, 15-5).
"There were lots of frustrations and moments of brilliance throughout the tournament," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "Right now, we are making the game harder than it needs to be and really need to focus on making things simpler.
"We have a gym full of amazing young women who will continue to work hard. We are fortunate it is early in the season so we can take the lessons from this weekend and turn them into future opportunity."
NIACC freshman Hannah Brinkman had 15 kills, six blocks and four digs. Freshman Megan Tobin had 10 kills, seven digs and two blocks and sophomore Ellie Hanna had 10 kills, nine blocks, three digs and one ace serve.
Also for the Trojans, Emily Opstvedt had 29 assists, 12 digs and three kills, Kit Byars had seven kills, three blocks and two digs.
NIACC's Kinsey Anderson had 26 digs and four assists, Addison Tabbert had 19 dis, five kills, four ace serves and two assists and Destiny Reasner had 19 digs and one ace serve.
The Trojans' Emma Miller had six digs, five kills and two ace serves and Kenedee Frayne had 22 assists, 14 digs and two kills.
NIACC (2-6 overall) returns to action Wednesday at home against Marshalltown CC in an ICCAC contest. Match time in the NIACC gym is slated for 7 p.m.
