MASON CITY - Freshman Sharli Fessler hit three home runs and drove in nine runs in No. 22 NIACC's 10-1 six-inning win over Northeast Iowa CC in the second game of a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon on the NIACC campus.
Fessler, who is from Nora Springs, hit a grand slam, a three-run home run and a two-run home run to lead the Trojans to the nine-run victory.
NIACC won the opener 8-0 in six innings. The Trojans are now 21-10 overall and 6-2 in the ICCAC.
Fessler's home runs in the second game were her third, fourth and fifth homers of the season.
The last time a NIACC player hit three home runs in a game was Ally Wall against Northeast CC in the first game of a doubleheader on April 25, 2025. The nine RBIs by Fessler was the most in a game since Madisyn Bauer drove in seven runs against Iowa Lakes in a second game of a doubleheader on April 10, 2024.
Wall (3-1) gained the win in the circle for the Trojans in the second game. Wall tossed a one-hitter, allowed one unearned run with six strikeouts and no walks.
NIACC's Emma Wall was 4 for 4 in Wednesday's second game.
In the opener, freshman southpaw Chloe Thurlby (12-6) tossed a complete-game shutout. Thurlby scattered five hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.
NIACC's Aubery Chapman was 2 for 3 and drove in two runs. Sophomore Makayla Wirkus collected her 100th career hit in Wednesday's opener.
NIACC's Ally Wall was 2 for 4 and drove in a run.
NIACC returns to action Saturday in a home doubleheader against Kirkwood. The first game is slated to start at 1 p.m. on the NIACC campus.
