SHAWNEE, Kan. - Freshman left-hander Chloe Thurlby tossed a no-hitter to lead No. 17 NIACC to an 8-0 five-inning win over Southwestern CC on Friday.
It was the first no-hitter for the Trojans since Izzy Sloan didn't allow a hit in an 8-0 five-inning win over Hawkeye CC in the first game of a doubleheader on April 22, 2025.
Thurlby (2-3) did not allow a hit with seven strikeouts and one walk in five innings of work. It was Thurlby's first career shutout and the first shutout this season for the Trojans.
NIACC (3-6) scored four runs in the first inning, a single run in the second inning and three runs in the third frame.
The Trojans hit a season-high four home runs against the Spartans. Emma Wall, Ally Wall, Katie Riesselman and Addie Rhoades all homered for the Trojans.
It was Riesselman's 12th career home runs.
Emma Wall and Mya Bunkers both had two hits for the Trojans. Ally Wall and Riesselman both drove in two runs.
In the Trojans' first game of the day Friday, they dropped a 5-4 decision to Neosho County CC.
Neosho County CC scored two runs in the fourth inning and plated six runs in the sixth inning. NIACC scored two runs in the first inning and two runs in the second inning.
Emma Wall and Ally Wall both had two hits for the Trojans. One of Ally Wall's hits was a solo home run, her second of the season and 23rd of her career, which is tied for fifth on NIACC's career home run list.
Makayla Wirkus, Ally Wall, Bunkers and Rhoades all had RBIs.
NIACC returns to action Saturday against John Wood CC and Metropolitan CC.
