Trojans fall to Southeastern, 3-2
WEST BURLINGTON - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a 3-2 decision to Southeastern CC Thursday night in an ICCAC contest.
The Blackhawks (12-6 overall, 4-0 in the ICCAC) won 22-25, 25-19, 25-18, 22-25, 15-12.
"Despite the loss, we played really well considering the lineup that included some injuries and one player who had her debut (Thursday)," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "It's really tough to battle when we are dealing with those uncontrollables but they kept fighting and we are proud of their efforts."
Sophomore Megan Tobin led the Trojans with 15 kills and three digs. Freshman Jocelynn Coleman had 14 kills.
NIACC freshman Brielle Volker had 12 digs, 10 kills, four assists, two ace serves and one block.
NIACC sophomore Kenedee Frayne had 26 assists, seven digs and two ace serves. Freshman Kendal VanMinsel had 16 assists, six digs and one ace serve, freshman Carissa Timmerman had 18 digs and three assists and sophomore Hannah Brinkman had seven kills, three blocks and three ace serves.
Also for the Trojans, sophomore Kinsey Anderson had 14 digs and one ace serve, freshman Kylee Reuter had three digs, two kills and two blocks and freshman Kayden Muller had four kills and one block.
NIACC (8-7, 0-3) returns to action at home on Wednesday against Southwestern CC. Match time in the NIACC gym is slated for 7 p.m.
