Trojans fall to WIT, 3-0
MASON CITY - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Western Iowa Tech Wednesday night in an ICCAC contest in the NIACC gym.
Western Iowa Tech (8-3 overall, 1-0 in the ICCAC) won 25-18, 25-16, 25-21.
"We struggled to put our team together (Wednesday) and build on top of the small successes," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "There were moments where we did some really good things and our team need to give ourselves a chance to thrive together."
NIACC (6-4, 0-2) was led by freshman Jocelynn Coleman with nine kills, three digs and one block. Sophomore Megan Tobin had eight kills, two digs and one block.
Also for the Trojans, sophomore Kenedee Frayne had 12 assists and seven digs and freshman Kendal VanMinsel had 10 assists, six digs and one ace serve.
Freshman Bailey Dagestad had four kills and one block, sophomore Kinsey Anderson had six digs, freshman Brielle Volker had 13 digs, four kills and two blocks and freshman Alva Fraenkel had five digs.
NIACC sophomore Hannah Brinkman had three kills and one ace serve and freshman Carissa Timmerman had 16 digs and two assists.
NIACC returns to action Friday and Saturday at the Iowa Central Invitational in Fort Dodge.
The Trojans face RCTC and Highland CC (Kan.) on Friday and take on Seminole State College and Madison College on Saturday.
