KANSAS CITY, Kan.- The No. 17 NIACC softball team wrapped up its spring break trip with a doubleheader sweep of Kansas City (Kan.) CC on Saturday.
The Trojans, who have won eight straight games, won the opener 13-5 in six innings and completed the sweep with a 15-7 win in the second game.
In the first game, NIACC pounded out 15 hits, including 11 extra base hits, to scores its 13 runs. The Trojans' Ella Trenkamp hit two home runs and also had a double with four RBIs.
Makayla Wirkus, Mya Bunkers and Katie Riesselman also homered for the Trojans.
Bunkers drove in four runs and Wirkus drove in three runs.
In the second game, NIACC pounded out 17 hits, including eight extra base hits, to score its 15 runs. Wirkus and Trenkamp both hit two home runs for the Trojans.
Wirkus drove in six runs from her leadoff position in the batting order. Trenkamp had four RBIs.
NIACC (15-9) opens its home season on Tuesday against Iowa Western. The first game is slated to start at 2 p.m. on the NIACC campus.
