Two Trojans earn ICCAC player of week honors
MASON CITY - Two NIACC men's soccer players have earned ICCAC Division II player of the week honors for the week of Oct. 20-26.
NIACC's Maximilian Torres and Thomas Burstow both were honored for their performances in the Trojans' 2-0 upset victory over No. 5 Southeastern on Oct. 22 in the regular season finale.
Against Southeastern, Torres scored a goal and had an assist to help the Trojans to the two-goal victory.
Burstow pitched a shutout against the Blackhawks stopping seven shots.
Burstow posts one of the most impressive resumes this season of goalkeepers in the conference with a league-leading .879 save percentage, along with making 51 saves and allowing only seven goals all year.
Torres and Burstow are the first NIACC men's soccer players to earn ICCAC player of week honors since Pablo Salas won the award for the week of Sept. 2-8, 2024.
