NIACC men to play in 2019 ICCAC Summer Series

DES MOINES - The NIACC men's basketball team will compete in the 2019 ICCAC Summer Series Friday through Sunday at Grand View University.

At 5 p.m. on Friday, ESPN college basketball analyst Fran Fraschilla will be a guest speaker.

Fraschilla started his career as an assistant coach at Providence under current Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes. Fraschilla then went on to coach Manhattan where he won two MAAC regular-season titles and one tournament championship. In 1995 Fraschilla was named MAAC Coach of the Year after going 26-5 and reaching the second round in the NCAA tournament. He made it to two total NCAA tournaments with the Jaspers.

After four seasons he went on to coach at St. Johns and New Mexico. Combined, he went to the NCAA tournament once and NIT three times. His coaching career ended with a 176-99 record. 

Fraschilla is now an ESPN broadcast analyst most notably covering Big 12 men's basketball action.

On Friday, the NIACC men face Danville Area CC at 8:30 p.m. on Court No. 1 in the main gym at Grand View University.

On Saturday, the Trojans face South Suburban (Ill.) at 2 p.m. on Court No. 1 at Des Moines East High School. They take on John Wood CC at 6:30 p.m. on Court No. 2 in the auxiliary gym at Grand View University.

On Sunday, NIACC plays Indian Hills at 11 a.m. on Court No. 2 in the auxiliary gym at Grand View. The Trojans play St. Louis at 2 p.m. on Court No. 2 in the auxiliary gym at Grand View.
