Trojans edge Lakers, 10-9
MASON CITY - The NIACC baseball team completed a three-game sweep of Iowa Lakes Sunday with a 10-9 win over the Lakers at Roosevelt Field.
NIACC, which swept a twinbill from the Lakers on Saturday, scored two runs in the fourth inning, five runs in the fifth inning and three runs in the sixth inning. The Lakers scored six runs in the fourth inning and three runs in the seventh frame.
Designated hitter Tommy Lyman powered the NIACC offense by going 4 for 4, including two doubles, with four RBIs. Lyman was first NIACC player with four hits in a game since George McIntyre collected four hits against Marshalltown CC in second game of doubleheader on March 28-29.
NIACC's Minchan Kim was 3 for 3, including a double, with three RBIs. McIntyre was 2 for 5, including a double, with two RBIs.
Carter Boos (2-0) gained the win in relief for the Trojans. Boos allowed two runs on four hits with three strikeouts and no walks in 2 1/3 innings of work.
NIACC (17-30 overall, 10-18 in the ICCAC) returns to action Wednesday at home with a doubleheader against Indian Hills. The first game is slated to start at 1 p.m. at Roosevelt Field,
