NIACC's DeLong earns 3rd-team all-American honors
NIACC freshman Meghan DeLong earned third-team NJCAA Division II all-American honors for her performance last month at the national tournament in Boone.
DeLong, who prepped at Clear Lake, tied for 16th in the indiviual medalist competition, which also earned her NJCAA Division II all-tournament honors at the Cedar Pointe Golf Course May 13-16. DeLong shot rounds of 79-82-79-89 - 329.
All-American honors were presented to the top 18 finishers (plus ties). The top six (plus ties) earned first-team all-American honors, the second six (plus ties) were second-team all-Americans and the next six (plus ties) were third-team all-Americans.
Iowa Central's Ivanna Becerra-Diaz claimed the first-ever NJCAA Division II individual national title. Iowa Central's Olivia Eckert was a second-team all-American and DMACC's Halle Hagberg earned third-team all-American honors along with DeLong.
DeLong is the first-ever NIACC women's golfer to earn all-American honors.
NIACC placed sixth at the NJCAA Division II national tournament with rounds of 336-355-333-358 - 1,382. It is the highest finish at a national tournament for the Trojans, whose previous highest finish was 10th at the 2013 NJCAA Division I national tournament in Mesa, Ariz.

NJCAA Division II third-team all-Americans - Josie Walker (Rend Lake College), Jordan Ransdell (Shelton State CC), Rebecca Pearce (Jefferson State CC), Halle Hagberg (DMACC), Meghan DeLong (NIACC), Sawyer Hobbs (Shelton State CC).
