No. 8 NIACC cruises past Graceland JV, 109-53
MASON CITY - The No. 8 NIACC men's basketball team rolled to a 109-53 victory over the Graceland University Junior Varsity on Monday night in the NIACC gym.
NIACC led 70-28 at the half and outscored the Yellow Jackets 39-25 in the second half to improve its overall record to 21-3.
The 21 wins is the most in the Mark Mohl era, which began in the 2008-09 season. The Trojans were 20-11 in the 2013-14 season.
The 21 wins is the most since 2006-07 when the Trojans were 23-9 under head coach Bryan Martin.
NIACC, which has won nine straight games, was led by freshman Joshua Walker with 16 points. Duke Carey and Orrington Hamilton both scored 14 points for the Trojans.
Also for NIACC, Jalyn Walker scored 13 points and Chandler Dean scored 10 points. David Wanjara scored seven points with a career-high 10 rebounds.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday in an ICCAC contest at Iowa Lakes. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m. in Estherville.
