NIACC splits pair at Southeastern Invite

WEST BURLINGTON - The NIACC volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Jimmy John's Invitational hosted by Southeastern CC on Friday.

NIACC (4-3 overall) dropped a 3-1 decision to Kansas City (Kan.) CC and topped East Central College 3-1.

In the match against Kansas City CC, the Lady Trojans fell 20-25, 21-25, 25-21, 12-25.

Against East Central, NIACC won 22-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-19.

"Our defense definitely kept us in the game (Friday)," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said, "and allowed us to play out of system when needed.

"Unfortunately, we had too many errors during our first match and struggled to put plays together."

On Saturday, the Lady Trojans face Nassau CC (8 a.m.) and Carl Sandburg College (noon).
