No. 9 NIACC women set to play in Dale Howard Classic

IOWA FALLS - The No. 9 NIACC women's basketball team faces Milwaukee Area Technical College at 2 p.m. on Friday in the Ellsworth gym in the Dale Howard Classic.

The Lady Trojans face Harper College at noon on Saturday.

The last time the NIACC women faced Milwaukee Area Tech in the 2014-15 season in the Konigsmark Klassic, Trudy Peterson scored 39 points, including 11 3-point goals, in a 107-66 victory.

The last three times the NIACC women have faces Milwaukee Area Tech, they have scored at least 100 points. The Lady Trojans won 107-66 (2014-15), 129-74 (2013-14) and 110-54 (2012-13).

This will be the first meeting between NIACC and Harper College in women's basketball.

NIACC topped No. 18 Illinois Central 99-82 on Nov. 3 at the Konigsmark Klassic in Mason City. Freshman Mikayla Homola led the Lady Trojans with 22 points. Sophomore Khalilah Holloway scored a career-high 18 points and also grabbed nine rebounds and collected three steals.

On Nov. 4, NIACC topped Bay College 90-61 as the Lady Trojans connected on 17 3-point goals, which is tied for fourth on the school's all-time single-game list. A total of 12 different players made at least one 3-point goal against Bay College. It was the fourth time in the Ciochetto era that the Lady Trojans have made 17 3-point goals in a game. Shayley Vesel led the Lady Trojans with 17 points against Bay College, including four 3-point goals.

Homola earned ICCAC women's basketball player of the week honors for the week of Oct. 30-Nov. 5.

Climbing the charts

Sophomore Taylor Laabs has 331 career points and ranks 55th on the school's all-time scoring list. Sophomore Kelsie Willert has 301 career points, which ranks 58th on school's career list.

Laabs has 65 career 3-point goals, which is 21st on the career list. Willert has 57 career 3-point goals, which ranks 26th on school's career list.

UU Longs has 84 career assists, which ranks 40th on the school's career assist list. Laabs has 71 career assists, which is tied for 45th on school's career list.
