NIACC splits pair with Northeast CC

NORFOLK, Neb. - The No. 6 NIACC softball team split an ICCAC doublehader with Northeast CC on Saturday.

NIACC won the first game 10-0 in five innings with freshman Kristen Peka throwing a perfect game. Northeast CC won the second game 4-3.

In the first game, Peka struck out 14 of the 15 batters she faced. The only ball put in play by Northeast against Peka was a fly ball to center fielder Kaitlyn Carlson.

Alyssa Laxson and Tayler Schmidt both hit home runs for the Lady Trojans in the opener.

In the second game, Northeast scored four runs in the third inning. NIACC scored single runs in each of the first three innings.

NIACC returns to action Wednesday in an ICCAC doubleheader at Ellsworth.
