FORT DODGE - NIACC freshman Brian Jacques made history on Saturday.
Jacques earned all-American honors with his seventh-place finish at the NJCAA Division I national cross country championships in a personal-best time of 25 minutes, 13 seconds on the 8-kilometer course on the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course.
The seventh-place finish by Jacques is the higest ever by a NIACC men's runner at the national meet. The previous best finish was an 11th-place finish by Trent Smith at the 2011 national meet.
Jacques' 25:13 is the third-fastest time in school history behind Wal Khat's 24:49 in 2016 and Imad Amenzou's 25:12 in 2015.
NIACC placed 18th in the team standings with 480 points. Iowa Central won the national title with 65 points and Central Arizona was second with 112 points.
Southern Idaho's Eric Fitzpatrick was the individual champion in 24:45 and Iowa Central's Ezekiel Kipchirchir was second in 24:48.
