MASON CITY - The NIACC men's golf team fired a 305 and placed fourth at the NIACC Fall Invitational on Monday at the Mason City Country Club.
NIACC's previous best score this fall was a 324 at the Carl Sandburg Classic in Galesburg, Ill. on Aug. 30.
"A 305 is a very good score," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said, "but 281 won it so we got beat pretty handily."
On Monday, DMACC won the invitational with a 281 and Southwestern was second with a 288.
NIACC was led by freshman Jackson Hamlin with a 73.
"I really liked what I saw out of Jackson Hamlin," Frenz said. "He was three-over par after the first three holes and he ends up with a 73. He battled back nicely."
"We definitely have room to improve," Frenz said. "I'm not disappointed in any way, shape or form. I just know that we have our work cut out for us."
