No. 17 NIACC men top Little Priest, 110-85

MASON CITY - Freshman Wendell Matthews scored 27 points with 14 rebounds to lead No. 17 NIACC to a 110-85 victory over Little Priest Tribal College Wednesday night in an ICCAC contest.

It was the sixth double/double of the season for Matthews, who matched his career high with 14 rebounds.

NIACC led 60-48 at the half and outscored the Warriors 50-37 in the second half to improve to 14-3 overall and 4-1 in the ICCAC.

NIACC sits in second place in the league standings with its 4-1 mark. Kirkwood, which topped Iowa Lakes 80-76 on Wednesday, leads the league at 6-0 and Iowa Lakes is in third at 4-2.

In Wednesday's victory, the Trojans also received 21 points from Deundra Roberson, 19 points from James Harris and 12 points from Christian Kelly.

Kelly also had eight rebounds, two assists, one blocked shot and one steal. Quentin Hardrict led the Trojans with five assists.

NIACC returns to action Saturday in an ICCAC contest at Ellsworth. Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
